Mr. Matemu was born in Mombasa , Kenya - East Africa . He came to the United States in 2003 . He is fluent in English, French and Swahili.

Mr. Matemu attended high school in Nairobi , Kenya. He graduated from The University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB, Hons) in the top 10% of his law school class. He was the Kenya Law Students Society Secretary-General. He took and passed the New York State Bar Exams and is admitted to the Supreme Court New York State, third department. He is Licensed to practice in all New York State Courts and all Immigration Courts in the nation, including proceedings before the UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION AND NATURALIZATION SERVICE and the BOARD OF IMMIGRATION APPEALS.

Mr. Matemu is a member of the AMERICAN IMMIGRATION LAWYERS ASOCIATION (AILA).

Mr. Japheth Matemu currently resides in Raleigh North Carolina but maintains offices in Washington DC and Midtown New York.
